About John
"Today is the Greatest Day to be Alive."
I grew up on a small family dairy farm in Madison County on Hardscrabble Road, a simple, old-fashioned childhood straight out of a book. I go by my middle name, Edward, to honor my father, a truly great man whose influence shaped who I am today.
From high school through my apprenticeship, I was a “Shop Kid,” learning in leather, wood, metal, and ag shops. I loved fixing up old tractors, snowmobiles, and dirt bikes, and sharing the thrill of the ride with my brothers and friends. Later, I became a Journeyman Toolmaker, mastering tools and machines, but my greatest passion has always been people, talking, laughing, and sharing stories.
I consider myself a “Professional Optimizer.” Through Shop Class, I combine Heroic Coaching, Financial Fundamentals, and a sense of urgency to help people flourish in what I call our “Wonderful Awful World." I bring high-energy optimism and a profoundly urgent message from a man who has died three times, been defibrillated twice, and is still here to share the stories.
